Calico Play

My sisters and I have been in a Calico Critter craze.
It started on Christmas morning.
A small panda appeared in Youngest Sister's stocking and a small bunny in Middle Sister's.
Then, for her birthday, Middle Sister chose to add to her collection.
I've never been a big animal person, but I too wanted in on this fun!
So I got the Calico Critter Spotter Meerkat Triplets.
Seeing as these are darling and miniature,
I suspect this craze will prove to be timeless.
We're enjoying them in the present, anyway.
Happy playing~

Beatrix Potter Meets Our Backyard

Earlier today Youngest Sister, Middle Sister, and one of their friends went exploring in our backyard and were thrilled to find these baby bunnies.

My mom, on the other hand, thinks that reading about Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter is much better than being neighbors with them. You see, bunnies have a history of eating our flowers.

I am rather enjoying our little visitors and appreciate how very photogenic they are. Blessing to you and your own neighbors ~Megan

Painting the Week and Playing Catch-Up

We arrived home late last night, so today has been full of catch-up. Suitcases have been emptied, piles of laundry washed, and my calendar painting finished.

This week, I used Cath Kidston masking tape I purchased in Ghirardelli Square to add texture to my calendar painting. Aren't the patterns darling?!

It is very nice to have everything in its place. May your week be full of order~ Megan

Color Hunt

I had the idea of doing a color hunt after reading this post. I loved looking at all the bright colors. Still surrounded by white here, bright colors grow harder (and more refreshing) to find. Seeing this cheerful spot in the blogging world made me want to make one of my own.

So, I started looking for pink. As with anything, the more I looked, the more I found. And, with two sisters, there was a lot to find  . . .

I really enjoyed my search for pink and am hoping to hunt for other colors, too. By the looks of the sky, it will be a relief to find yellow. And who knows, when warm weather finally arrives, maybe I'll be in the mood for white!

May your days be colorful~ Megan

Hearts Like Doors

A picture I drew in 2nd or 3rd grade

 186. Poems tucked away-- in both the basement and my memory

187. Pink treats for a friend's fun movie party

 188. Dripping chocolate

 189. Mom's wisdom when the brownies cooked too long

190. Mom's wisdom in general

[Cover]

191. A delightful book. Youngest Sister was the first to hear it and Middle Sister read it next. They seem to revel in asking me what part I'm at and then looking at each other and mysteriously saying that I haven't come to the big secret yet. After that they laugh and tell me they're teasing. I know they are but I still wonder. . .

192. Movies to curl up with on cold nights

193. Playing with cute little girls and boys somewhere in between being babies and toddlers in the nursery at our church

194. Two round blue eyes of one little girl looking into mine. Too small for speaking, she sat peacefully on my hip and we traveled around the room. I would ask if something looked fun to play and she would simply shake her head. Content.

195. Quiet confidence more effective in opening (my) heart than any words

Happy Valentine's Day! ~Megan

Like Birds of a Feather

All day, it has been snowing.  For the first time this winter, there is enough snow on the ground to go sledding.  For the first time this winter, my Dad could not get to work because of the snow.

The snow keeps falling.
The birds keep flying.

I wonder if we are not like the birds.
I wonder if we attempt to dodge oncoming blessings because of fear.

The snowflakes are cold, at first.
The snowflakes form a blanket fast.

But, being a bird is not all bad.

When you're a bird you stay close to other birds.
When you're a bird you are protected by feathers.

You are not the one who provides your warmth.
You have the Creator taking care of you.

Giving thanks for falling blessings--

116.  Birds.

117.  Flying.  But that does NOT include a recent dream (or rather nightmare?) in which I landed an airplane. . . . Really, I do not ever hope to be a pilot.

118.  Cold temperatures (please note it is not nearly as cold as this thermometer would like you to believe).

119.  Snow!

120.  A sledding trip on our favorite hill.

121.  Hot chocolate at home after the walk back from sledding.  Today my little chocolate calendar shared a recent study showing that a brisk fifteen minute walk reduces chocolate cravings, but I found the hot chocolate even better.  But, then again, I did not time our walk.

122.  Breath you can see.

123.  Unique--snowflakes, birds, blessings.

124.  Snowed in together.

 125.  Baking and decorating cookies with Meemaw.

 126.  Beautifully bound old books.

127.  Beautifully bound new books.

128.  A musical birthday gift.

129.  Sisters begging for a turn to try and play it.

130.  A new mug full of tea.

Blessed warmth to you~ Megan

Christmas Adam

A few years ago, Sophie and Camille were inspired by the name Christmas Eve.  Since it's the day before Christmas they decided that the day before Christmas Eve must be called Christmas Adam and it has been called that ever since.

This year Sophie, Camille, my Mom, and I spent the afternoon of Christmas Adam with my MeeMaw, Aunt Judy, Aunt Laura, and cousin Caitlin.  First, thanks to reservations made by Aunt Judy (who we did this with last year, just on a different day), we enjoyed lunch at Andre's.

Even the napkin is cute!
The full table

Which tea to choose?
A peek at the counter
The holly outside-- quite felicitous this time of year

After lunch, we went off to enjoy the Toy and Miniature Museum.

Pictures are not allowed inside, so I took a picture of a dollhouse in the brochure outside.

Later that night, after getting back from our outing, Sophie, Camille, my Mom, my Dad, and I played dominoes.
I lost by a long shot and would like to think it is proof that I don't play dominoes very often.  Camille, however, doesn't play dominoes very often either and still won.  That annoying double 9!

And before going to bed, I got my gifts wrapped (one of the things I was going to do on Saturday.)
I hope you too had a merry Christmas Adam!  ~Megan
